Starlight Theatre will kick-off its 67th season with a co-produced tour of Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID with a book by Doug Wright, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman, with additional lyrics by Glenn Slater. This production will mark the first time Starlight has co-produced a national tour.

Produced by Starlight and Pittsburg CLO, and directed by THE LITTLE MERMAID’s original Broadway director Glenn Casale, this new production will visit 18 additional U.S. cities through October and features a veteran cast of performers with Broadway and regional theater experience.

“We are so pleased to open Starlight’s 2017 season with a show that always ranks very high on our audience surveys,” said Starlight President and CEO Rich Baker. “The performances and spectacle on stage will surely hold the attention of every audience member. The Little Mermaid stirs childhood memories for young adults, and it gives parents and grandparents a perfect opportunity to introduce their own children and grandchildren to the magic of live theater.”

Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless tale of love and nearly 30 years after the animated film was released, Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID tells the story of an adventurous young mermaid who lives in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, yet longs to leave her ocean home and live in the world above. This family-friendly production includes familiar musical numbers such as “Part of Your World,” “Kiss the Girl” and the Academy Award-winning “Under the Sea.”

The cast of The Little Mermaid is led by Diana Huey (Ariel) and Eric Kunze (Prince Eric). Huey continues in her lead role after starring in a previous tour produced by Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre. She has extensive regional theater credits, including productions in Seattle, Milwaukee, North Carolina, Virginia and more. Kunze’s Broadway credits include LES MISÉREABLES, MISS SAIGON, and DAMN YANKEES. He’s performed internationally in FUN HOME and extensively in regional theater’s throughout the U.S.

Additional cast includes Melvin Abston (Sebastian), Jennifer Allen (Ursula), Steve Blanchard (King Triton), Allen Fitzpatrick (Grimsby), Frederick Hagreen (Jetsam), Brandon Roach (Flotsam), Connor Russell (Flounder), Jamie Torcellini (Scuttle), Kristine Bennett (Alana, Ensemble), Kristin Burch(Andrina, Ensemble), Venny Carranza (Gull, Ensemble, Chef Understudy, Scuttle Understudy), KC Fredericks (Gull, Ensemble, Flounder Understudy), Melissa Glasgow (Aquata, Ensemble), Sheldon Henry (Ensemble, Sebastian Understudy), Bety Le (Ariel Double, Ensemble), Michael McGurk (Gull, Ensemble), Amanda Minano (Adella, Ensemble, Ariel Understudy), Becca Orts (Atina, Ensemble), Robbie Roby (Swing, Dance Captain), James Shackelford (Ensemble, Eric Double, Understudy Prince Eric), Brian Steven Shaw (Ensemble, Flotsam/Jetsam Understudy), Dane Stokinger (Chef Louis, Pilot, Ensemble, Triton Understudy, Grimsby Understudy), Brenna Wagner (Arista, Ensemble), and Brittany Zeinstra (Swing).
