MTH’ has announced it’ll continue the performance series SILENT MOVIE SESSIONS this Saturday, November 18 in the newly renovated MTH Studio Theater. The series fuses the silent movie genre with live jazz artists performing original and improvisational compositions. The quintet on November 18 will led by Joey Panella on Bass and features Brandon Wilkins on saxophone/bassoon/flute, Eddie Moore on piano, Joe Schoonover on guitar, and Brian Steever on drums/percussion.

The Silent Movie for this session will be the 1922 German Expressionist film NOSFERATU.

Directed by F. W. Murnau and starring Max Schreck as the vampire Count Orlok, Nosferatu was shot in 1921 and released in 1922. It was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker‘s Dracula. Various names and other details were changed from the novel: for instance, “vampire” became “Nosferatu”, and “Count Dracula” became “Count Orlok”. It is widely considered one of the great silent films of all time.

SILENT MOVIE SESSIONS runs November 18, at 7 pm. General admission tickets are $15. For more information visit mthkc.com.
