The MTH Theater at Crown Center has announced casting for the first show of the 2018 Season, BROADWAY’S GOLDEN AGE.
An original production, and directed by Julie Shaw (making her directorial debut with the company), the show features Danielle Barger, Sara Belhouari, Lexi Brie, John Cleary, Robby May, Phillip Newman, Mandy Morris, and David Sanchez.
The production team includes musical staging by Kenny Personett, with resident Music Director and pianist Jeremy Watson conducting the four person band of Jacob Roemer on bass, Tod Barnard on drums, and Brandon Wilkins on saxaphone and clarinet.
From the press release: “Written and conceived by MTH founder George Harter, Broadway’s Golden Age uses Harter’s longstanding radio show “A Night on the Town” as its starting point. The production will be evocotive of Harter’s time as the host of the celebrated radio program and draw from his vast knowledge of the musical theater catalouge, primarliy the Broadway songbook of the 1940s and 50s.”
“Broadway’s Golden Age began with Oklahoma and ended with The Sound of Music,” says Harter. “Never in history was there a time when so many great composers contributed to the American Musical and classics like West Side Story, Gypsy, My Fair Lady, The Pajama Game and many more debuted on the Great White Way; it is arguably the most celebrated era in Broadway history,”
