The Barn Players have announced the line up for their 2019 season, which includes four musicals, one, play and the annual 6 X 10 ten-minute play festival. The 64th season will be presented at The Arts Asylum, where they continue to reside as Artists-In-Residence.

THE FULL MONTY: February 21 – March 3, 2019; Music & Lyrics by David Yazbeck; Book by Terrence McNally. Director TBA. It’s the return of a Barn Players favorite! What happens when a group of unemployed Buffalo, NY steelworkers form an exotic dance ensemble? You and they will truly learn if they “let it go” in this unforgettable, rippin’ and strippin’ musical. Rated R, for mature audiences.
GRAND HOTEL, THE MUSICAL: April 25 – May 5, 2019; A Kansas City community theatre premiere! Music & Lyrics by Robert Wright & George Forrest; Additional Music & Lyrics by Maury Yeston; Book by Luther Davis. Director TBA. 1928 Berlin. Come and visit the world’s most luxurious hotel. There you’ll find intrigue, love and murder, and life and death. Lives intertwine as clients come and go through the front door of the Grand Hotel. Rated R, for mature audiences.
THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME: May 23 – June 2, 2019; A Kansas City community theatre premiere! By Simon Stephens; Based on the novel by Mark Haddon; Director TBA. 15-year-old Christopher who has an extraordinary brain, but is ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When accused of perhaps killing his neighbor’s dog, Christopher undertakes takes a thrilling journey that upturns his world in trying solve the mystery. Rated R, for mature audiences.
MAMMA MIA: August 22 – September 1, 2019; A Kansas City community theatre premiere! Music & Lyrics by Benny Andersson & Bjorn Ulvaeus, with Stig Anderson; Book by Catherine Johnson; Originally Conceived by Judy Craymer; Directed by Eric Magnus. The storytelling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs propels a bride-to-be’s quest to find her true father. Could it be one of the three men from her mother’s past she brings back to the Greek island they last visited 20 years ago? Rated PG13, some material may not be suitable for children.
VICTOR / VICTORIA: November 14 – 24, 2019; A Kansas City community theatre premiere! Book by Blake Edwards; Music by Henry Mancini; Lyrics by Leslie Bricusse; Additional Music by Frank Wildhorn; Director TBA. Life’s choices are very complicated with the cross-dressing Victor / Victoria. Paris entertainer Victoria Grant unexpectedly becomes a star female impersonator, only to fall in love with macho mobster King Marchan. But, will he discover her secret? Rated PG13, some material may not be suitable for children.
THE 12th ANNUAL 6 X 10: Original Ten-Minute Play Festival: December 6 – 8, 2019; Directors TBA. Six short plays authored by Kansas City talent are given the opportunity come to life on the Barn Players stage.
