From the press release: “HAIR, the American Tribal Love-Rock Musical follows a young group of hippies fighting the establishment, dodging the draft, living and loving in New York City. It’s 1968: the Vietnam War is raging and the Age of Aquarius is dawning. Claude and his Tribe of friends struggle to balance the demands of the harsh and violent world with their dream of beauty and peace. When Claude receives his
draft notice, he must decide whether to join his friends in resisting the draft, or bow to the pressures of society, thereby sacrificing his ideals and, possibly, his life.”
“HAIR was a sensation when it opened on Broadway in 1968, bringing rock music to the stage and changing musical theatre forever. Many of the issues from 50 years ago continue to resonate today. This is an amazing time in our nation’s history to explore the power of passionate youth and to make their voices heard.” said Julie Danielson, Artistic Director.
HAIR runs June 1st and 2nd at B&B Live inside B&B Theatres, 16301 Midland Drive, Shawnee, KS 66217. For more information, including ticket purchase, visit MTKC.org.
