The 80s jukebox musical ROCK OF AGES takes the stage with The Barn Players November 8 – November 18 at The Arts Asylum, 1000 East 9th Street, KCMO.
Set on LA’s Sunset Strip, ROCK OF AGES is a tribute to the over-the-top gritty glamour of 1980s rock n’ roll. Foreign developers plan to turn a fabled hard rock venue into a strip mall, prodding the club’s regulars to try and save it through songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and more. The score of includes a parade of hits, including “I Wanna Know What Love Is,” “Here I Go Again,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The show opened Off-Broadway in the fall of 2008 before transferring to Broadway in the following spring, picking up five 2009 Tony Award nominations, including one for Best Musical.
The Barn Players production is directed by Eric Magnus, with musical direction by Blake Vignery, vocal direction by Michelle McIntire, and choreography by Evan Lovelace.
