Astra Theatre Company, a new non-profit Kansas City theater, has announced the lineup for its inaugural season, along with a one-night fundraising concert. 

Helmed by Artistic Director Taylor Harlow, Astra’s 19/20 season kicks off in the fall of 2019 with Tennessee Williams’ “The Glass Menagerie,” followed by Lisa D’Amour’s “Anna Bella Eema” in winter 2020, and concludes with “Lungs” by Duncan MacMillan in the spring.

The fundraising concert, titled “An Evening with Astra,” will take place Friday, December 28th at MTH Theater at Crown Center. The event will feature a sneak peek up the upcoming season, along with performances by Taylor Avazpour, Jessica Alcorn, Darrington Clark, Anthony Fortino, Elizabeth Griffith, Brooke Lacey, Emma Marston, Cooper McGuire, and Morgan Walker.

Founded by a collective of Kansas City local performers including Taylor Harlow, Anthony Fortino, Elizabeth Griffith, and Emma Marston, Astra’s board of directors currently includes Taylor Avazpour, Britton Erskine, and Gabby Fried.

The company’s mission will focus on championing new works and reinvigorating the published theatrical cannon, while providing a professional environment where established and emerging artists alike can foster innovative storytelling.
