On a sweltering summer morning in 1892, in a small New England city, a prominent businessman and his wife were brutally axed to death in their home. Their daughter Lizzie Borden was the prime suspect. Lizzie’s trial was a coast-to-coast media sensation.”
“So many know the chilling rhyme about Lizzie Borden recited in childhood: “Lizzie Borden took an ax, gave her mother forty whacks; when she saw what she had done, gave her father forty-one.” What most may not know is the heartbreaking tale of Lizzie Borden’s life before she was accused of killing her father and stepmother,” comments Dancy. “We want to show a new and important side of the story – causing viewers to question their own moral compasses and ask themselves the question: guilty or innocent?”
LIZZIE runs one weekend, March 21 – 24 at the Arts Asylum, 1000 E. 9th Street, Kansas City, MO 64106. For more information visit fausttheatre.com.
