Spinning Tree Theatre has announced applications are now being accepted for the 3rd Annual Guild Scholarship.

Sponsored by the company’s Guild and administered by the Artistic Committee, the one-time $1,000 scholarship is awarded to area high school seniors to assist in pursuing higher education.

To be considered, applicants must be current high school seniors residing in the Kansas City metropolitan area planning to attend college in the fall of 2019 with the goal of pursuing a degree and career in acting or musical theatre. The deadline to apply is March 18, 2019.

The recipient will perform in “Spinning Tree Sings!” on May 11 at Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer this scholarship for a third year, thanks to the generosity and talent of our Guild and Artistic Committee,” says Co-Founder and Managing Director Andrew Grayman-Parkhurst. “We are committed to investing in young artists, and our Guild Scholarship allows us the opportunity to support an emerging artist in a specific, spotlighted way.”

Spinning Tree’s Artistic Committee consists of Pamela Baskin-Watson, Robert Gibby Brand, Nedra Dixon, Nancy Marcy, Michelle Tyrene Johnson, Julie Shaw, Ryan Tucker and Vigthor Zophoniasson.
