Landlocked Opera, a new Kansas City-based opera company co-founded by Jonathan Ray and Christina Ray, has announced its 2019 season, which will include Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury,” and Hector Berlioz’s “Beatrice and Benedict.”
According to the press release, the company will focus on producing operas that serve classically trained singers with an opportunity to develop their craft through vocal performance, as well as bridging the gap between academia and the professional operatic industry.
“Trial by Jury” will be presented with a short opera scenes program on May 11 and 12, and “Beatrice and Benedict,” based on William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” and sung in French with English dialogue, will run September 20, 21, and 22.
Landlocked Opera’s 2019 season will take place at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS.
