Theatre in the Park continues its 50th anniversary season this weekend with “Matilda the Musical.”

Based on the book by Roald Dahl with a book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, “Matilda” tells the story of extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination, a sharp mind…and a little naughtiness, dares to take a stand against the bullies of the world thereby changing her own destiny.

Directed by Mark Swezey, with music direction by Laura VanLeeuwen, and choreography by Ann McCroskey, the production features Mia Cabrera (Matilda), Cara Hampton (Honey), Franci Talamantez Witte (Mrs. Wormwood), Joell Ramsdell (Mr. Wormwood), Weston Thomas (Trunchbull), Thomas Kenefake (Bruce), Jordan Deleon (Rudolpho) Kristi Mitchell (Mrs. Phelps), Liam Witte (Michael), Liz Secrest (Lavender), Madeline Hendricks (Amanda), Lucy Alcok (Hortensia), Caroline Petersma (Alice), Tristan Jenkins (Nigel), Drew Squire (Eric), Brock Olsen (Tommy), Alexa Morgan (Acrobat), Sam Aubuchon (Escapologist), Holden Schoeder (Ensemble), Maddox Bane (Ensemble), Raheem Fielder Bey (Ensemble), Jeese Hoover (Ensemble), Evan Nugent (Ensemble), Amber Nugent (Ensemble), Alyssa Deloen (Ensemble), Ginger Vaugh Pullin (Ensemble), Lily Cooper (Ensemble), Maggie Bunch (Ensemble), Taylor Schierbeck (Ensemble), Morgan Lank (Ensemble), Marissa Lunetta (Ensemble), Lana Jenson (Ensemble), Mary Caitland Williams (Ensemble), Paul Nobrega (Russian), Jacob Witte (Russian), and Tom Teller (Russian).

The creative team also includes McCroskey’s son Mitch McCroskey as assistant choreographer and VanLeeuwen’s mother Jan O’Rourke as accompanist.

“Matilda the Musical” runs July 19 – July 27. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $6 for youth (ages 4-10) plus tax, and children three and under are free. Reserved seats and parking are available. For more information visit
